Bellevue Hotel, Broad Street at Walnut, northwest corner. Opened in 1882, the Bellevue soon became popular as a meeting place for socialites and fashionable clubs. It later merged with the Stratford. In 1904, only 19 hours after the Bellevue's ceremonious closing, the Bellevue-Stratford opened across Walnut Street on the site of the old Stratford.
